USD 232 TORCH Award Recipients for October 2024

At the Board of Education Meeting on Monday, November 4, our district recognized four employees with the 232 TORCH award. This honor recognizes USD 232 staff for their exceptional commitment to our students and our district.

Our first stop in October for the TORCH Award was Clear Creek Elementary where Proud Superintendent Cory Gibson and Principal Ashley Olerich recognized Physical Education teacher Corrin Weaver. Corrin was selected to receive this award because she makes each day fun and engaging for her students, which includes making all the extra activities, like the school’s annual lap-a-thon, extra special. The unwavering support she also provides her team members, and her students does not go unnoticed.

Next, we tracked down Trish Lum, a dedicated Math Aid at Clear Creek Elementary, who was assisting in a kindergarten classroom. Principal Ashley Olerich shared how lucky she feels to have such a dedicated educator among her staff members. Trish constantly goes above and beyond to support all of the students and staff at Clear Creek.

The second building to be recognized for the October 232 TORCH Award was Lexington Trails Middle School and the Digital Media classroom of Megan Johnson. Here Principal Clark McCracken shared why Megan was selected to receive the TORCH award with her likeminded class: she is a great teacher, an exceptional coach and is also quickly becoming a strong leader at LTMS.

The last stop for the month of October was the front office at LTMS to surprise secretary, Maggie Culbertson with the TORCH Award for October. Principal Clark McCracken shared. As the voice and face of our school, Maggie’s energy and positive attitude is an asset to LTMS. As a proud Panther alumnus, we are so thankful that she returned to LT to work with our families, students and staff.

Congratulations to all our staff recognized with the 232 TORCH Award for the month of October. Our district is so fortunate to have you as a part of our team.
